Worship - Liturgical Ministries
Liturgy is the Church’s public worship, including all the rituals and ceremonies by which the Church expresses her worship of God. Celebrations of the liturgy are actions involving not only the sacred ministers, but all who are members incorporated in the mystical body of Christ.
The purpose of the liturgy is threefold. The liturgy:
- Gives honor and glory to God through prayer
- Develops and strengthens the faith of the people
- Teaches and instructs the faithful in the meaning of Christ’s work through the sacred mysteries
More than intellectual exercise, the liturgy is an act of the whole person involving one’s intellect, senses, and emotions. Liturgy is also an aesthetic expression of the love of God.
